How to get a Temporary Pistol Permit in Andover, CT
Temporary Pistol Permits are obtained from the office of the Town Clerk/Town Administrator.
- Obtain the Temporary Pistol Permit Application from one of the following places:
- Complete and submit the Temporary Pistol Permit Application
- Submit your Firearms Safety and Use Course Certificate
- Provide Proof you are legally and lawfully in the United States (e.g. certified copy of birth certificate, US Passport or documentation issued by I.C.E.)
- Have fingerprints done and pay on-line for print processing. Print receipt for this and bring to the Town Clerk
- Fingerprint Instructions for digital prints.
- Upon approval and receipt of a $70.00 check made payable to the Town of Andover CT, the Town Clerk/Town Administrator’s office will issue a Temporary State Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers (DPS-11-C), effective for 60 days.
- Within 60 days, go to a DESPP, Division of State Police, pistol permit location and submit the following:
- A valid Temporary State Permit to Carry Pistols or Revolvers (DPS-11-C)
- Proof of legal and lawful presence in the United States is required. Acceptable forms of proof include a birth certificate, U.S. passport, or documentation of permanent residence from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- Payment of a $70.00 fee is required, either by check or money order made payable to “Treasurer, State of Connecticut” or by exact cash payment.
- Your photograph and signature will be taken at DESPP
